Angelo Berardi
This site doesn’t want to be an “electronic brochure”, sorting a list of projects that I have carried out in the field of architecture and engineering; rather this is a "gadget" for my friends so that they can get to know another side of me: what I did during my 40 years of professional activity.
Some months ago my wife found an old exercise book in a little rusty box. This book dates back to the time that I was ten years old. There was a composition amongst the others: CHE COSA VORRESTI FARE DA GRANDE? (What will you do when you’re grown?). What I wrote (plenty of mistakes!) was:
“When I grow up, I will be an engineer and an architect, but I would like to be a painter, in fact I have already made some little paintings and I did very well. But now I must resign to do it because it is my father’s will: I must be an engineer. I like the engineering as well because in this profession building plans are designed and my father, seeing that I’m a good draftsman allows me to colour the plans and, just to play, to draw the furniture. I’ll feel good being an engineer because my father is an engineer[as well my grand father, 5 generations of engineers!!!] and is teaching me a lot of principles of engineering.
I’m dreaming of working overseas and designing buildings, villas, roads, bridges, tunnels, etc., etc.”.
The teacher wrote: “to many mistakes for an engineer!!!!”
This is what I have done until now… I have not yet decided about my future: will I continue in engineering and architecture or become a painter?
